Objectives
To inform distributors, professionals and consumers about the advantages of the new product and to seek orders. To train the distributors' staff and professionals, to use the new product. Maximising the opportunity offered by the launch to present the existing range of Grundfos products. To reinforce Grundfos brand image. To stimulate the distribution network. To launch the product as quickly as possible.
Strategy
Grundfos decided to organise a road show consisting of two simultaneous tours involving two vehicles, with the aim of meeting all of its distributors. Both Grundfos representatives and an external back-up team of sales people participated.
Implementation
The Roadshow was organised on board Diamondspace I and Compact. These vehicles are often used for exhibitions, demonstrations, information and negotiations. Thanks to its unique design, its finish, its equipment and its external and internal decoration, Diamondspace I conveys the company image perfectly. Diamondspace I provides, approximately 20 m2 of space. Diamondspace I includes the following equipment As standard (air conditioning, heating, ISDN power sockets, 6 interior loud-speakers, bar, 220/380 Volt electrical connection).
Results
The road show fulfilled and exceeded its aims. It motivated distribution partners by providing a presence on the ground and communication support. It strengthened the links between the professionals and Grundfos. In less than three months the product was launched to both fitters and distributors staff, stimulating orders for all products in the Grundfos range.
Sample Itinerary
7.00 a.m. Departure from the hotel on board Diamondspace I
8.00 a.m. Arrival at the first distributors. The vehicle is set up, the demonstration tank is filled and the electricity is connected. The Grundfos representative helps the driver to set up the vehicle.
9.00 a.m. Presentation begins, during the morning, the new product is demonstrated to the distributors staff, fitters and private individuals. The Grundfos range is described, prospectuses are distributed and orders are taken.
12 noon The vehicle is dismantled and transferred to the next stage.
2.00 p.m. Arrival at the second distributors. The vehicle is set up, the demonstration tank is filled again and the electricity is reconnected. The Grundfos representative helps the driver set up the vehicle.
3.00 p.m. The presentation begins, the new product is demonstrated to the distributor’s staff, fitters and private individuals. The Grundfos range is described, prospectuses are distributed and orders are taken.
6.00 p.m. The vehicle is dismantled and taken to the next stage.
Depending upon the wishes of the Grundfos representatives and distributors, buffets, tombolas and barbecue evenings were often organised as the vehicles traveled through the various stages.
During a period of 10 weeks all distributors of Grundfos France were visited by the two road show vehicles.
This event has stimulated the marketing channel of Grundfos. It generated a 98% positive reaction. It pinpointed potential customers who have a genuine interest in Grundfos products and it demonstrated a real commitment by Grundfos to its distributors its products and its sales and marketing.
